Benny Blanco’s mother, Selena Gomez’s mother-in-law, faced a frightening home invasion in Studio City, California, prompting ABC’s David Muir to pause his broadcast to report the incident
David Muir interrupted his nightly broadcast to report on a “frightening” incident involving Benny Blanco’s mother, who is also Selena Gomez’s mother-in-law.
Sandra Levin’s Studio City home was burglarized overnight, according to authorities. Muir said on air, “A scare for Selena Gomez’s mother-in-law during a home invasion, masked intruders breaking in.”
Police confirmed that Levin was at her residence when the incident occurred. “Police say Gomez’s mother-in-law, Sandra Levin, was at home in Studio City, California. Two men in masks breaking in, she barricaded herself upstairs and was able to call 9-1-1. The men fled before police arrived. Levin was not hurt,” Muir added.

According to the Los Angeles Police Department, the burglary was reported around 9:15 p.m. Monday night. The caller told officers that three men had broken a sliding glass door at the residence. The suspects fled the scene before police arrived.
“The home of Benny Blanco’s mother was burglarized overnight,” an LAPD spokesperson told KABC, the local ABC station. Police said the intruders ransacked the home and stole property, but the details of what was taken remain unclear.
It is not entirely clear where Levin was during the break-in, but a stringer at the scene reported that she had hidden in her upstairs bathroom while speaking with police. Detectives are continuing to investigate the incident.
Neighbors were reportedly unaware that Blanco’s mother lived at the targeted residence. Others said the home has been targeted previously and noted that burglaries have become more common in the area.
“Do I feel safe? Much less so than when we moved here, like, 27 years ago,” Studio City resident Tim Knipe told KABC. “Now, not so much. We check our locks to make sure the alarm’s on. It’s a much different life.”

The burglary comes amid the ongoing high-profile marriage of Selena Gomez and Benny Blanco. The couple, who recently tied the knot, have generally kept their private lives out of the spotlight.
While they occasionally share glimpses of their life together on social media, neither Gomez nor Blanco has publicly commented on the home invasion.
Studio City, a neighborhood in Los Angeles known for its mix of long-term residents and entertainment industry professionals, has seen a rise in reports of burglaries and break-ins in recent months.
Police are reminding residents to stay vigilant and to report any suspicious activity.
Police are urging anyone with information about the burglary to contact the LAPD’s North Hollywood station.
This incident highlights the increasing concern over home security in Studio City, a neighborhood where longtime residents are now taking extra precautions. Many families are investing in alarms, cameras, and stronger locks as part of their efforts to safeguard their homes.
For high-profile families connected to celebrities like Selena Gomez and Benny Blanco, these precautions have become particularly important.
