The enforcement effort, carried out through “Operation Charlotte’s Web,” has reportedly resulted in more than 130 arrests over its first two days. Muir then turned the report over to his correspondent Faith Abubey, who was on the ground in Charlotte.

She described the scene as one of “growing fear and outrage,” noting that ICE has already detained at least 130 people in the city. Among the footage was a dramatic moment including a woman screaming at a border patrol agent, “I’m a U.S. citizen!”

Abubey also warned that New Orleans could be next. She reported that ICE may target the Democrat-run city by the end of the week, sharing that intelligence and planning are already underway.

The broadcast struck a nerve with viewers. On Instagram, one person posted, “Oh God help us all.” Another wrote, “Stop this madness.” A third commented, “Their only crime is being the wrong color for the Trump administration.”

Federal officials say the operation is meant to remove “public safety threats,” with DHS Assistant Secretary Tricia McLaughlin noting that the administration is “surging DHS law enforcement to Charlotte…to ensure Americans are safe.”

Meanwhile, local leaders strongly disagree. Charlotte Mayor Vi Lyles and other officials have condemned the raids, calling them a source of “unnecessary fear and uncertainty.”

Community organizations report that immigrant-owned businesses shut down over the weekend, residents stayed home, and detentions reportedly happened even near churches and schools.

This crackdown is not isolated to Charlotte. Cities like Chicago, Los Angeles, New York, and others have also seen similar operations under Trump’s enforcement agenda.
