Linsey Davis took over hosting duties for ABC’s World News Tonight on Sunday as she shared an update to those viewers planning to travel over the Thanksgiving period
ABC viewers weren’t happy as Linsey Davis shared an urgent warning for those planning to travel for Thanksgiving.

The 48-year-old journalist replaced the usual World News Tonight host David Muir, who has a staggering net worth and salary, on Sunday, November 23, as he took a well-earned break over the weekend. Davis revealed plummeting temperatures and floods could disrupt travel across America during Thanksgiving week.
Reporting from her ABC desk, Davis told viewers, “Despite the weather, the busy holiday travel rush is in full swing. This could be the busiest travel period in 15 years. AAA [American Automobile Association] estimates that about 81 million Americans will take to the skies or hit the roads in order to break bread with friends and family for Thanksgiving.” It comes after David issued a bombshell 4-word message as he stepped away from the ABC desk live on air.

She then handed over to ABC correspondent Alex Presha, reporting from Washington’s DCA airport. Videos of cars in stand-still traffic played on screen as Presha said in a voiceover, “Tonight, as Americans prepare to hit the road ahead of a week of holiday travel, there’s turbulent weather across parts of the south complicating plans. Heavy rain in Tucson drenching roads.”
Passengers were also shown standing in long queues at an airport. Presha continued, “The FAA says this coming week may be the busiest Thanksgiving travel period in 15 years. AAA estimates that 81 million people are traveling for the Thanksgiving holiday.”

Presha reported live from DCA as he said, “You can see the lines here at DCA are moving pretty steadily but Airlines for America estimates that more than 31 million passengers will be flying this week. And the TSA says they’re expecting to process north of three million passengers at the height of travel next Sunday. Fresh off a government shutdown – which prompted staffing shortages, long screening lines and flight disruptions – the agency says its officers are ready for the crowds.”
Adam Stahl, deputy administrator at TAA, told World News Tonight, “They’re well-trained and they’re laser-focused on really safely, securely and efficiently getting folks through the checkpoints. And so, we’re prepared for this Thanksgiving season.”
The Trump administration has been handing out $10,000 bonus checks to some TSA officers and air traffic controllers, but Presha reported “not everyone will get those checks.” He explained only those who had “perfect attendance” while working without pay during the government shutdown will receive the bonuses.
Officials reported the checks started coming out last weekend. Presha continued, “The National Air Traffic Controllers Association says it’s concerned that thousands of workers who reported for duty during the shutdown were excluded from the recognition.”
Reporting live from DCA, Presha said, “Linsey, for those headed to the airports, officials are also proposing a new $18 fee for travelers who doesn’t have a REAL ID or a passport when going through security.” Davis replied, “Good to keep that in mind.”
