Taylor Swift’s heartfelt handwritten letter to Liam Payne before his death is up for auction in December

A heartfelt handwritten letter from Taylor Swift to Liam Payne from 2017 is going up for auction in December.

In the sweet note — “dated 12.1.17” — Swift told Payne she was “always cheering” him on with his solo career.

The letter is up for auction on Dec. 2 with Omega Auctions. The item is valued at £5,000-10,000 (around $6,500-$13,150) per the lot on the auctioneer’s website.

According to the description, the note was given to the One Direction star ahead of their respective performances at that year’s Capital FM Jingle Bell Ball at London’s O2 Arena. Swift and Payne performed at the concert on Dec. 10, 2017. 

The letter reads: “Liam, Long time no see! I’m so excited for you, you’re crushing it out there. I’m obsessed with ‘Bedroom Floor.’ It’s so cool to see you from afar, I’m always cheering you on. Good luck tonight!” 

It was signed off with Swift’s signature and came in an envelope with “Liam” and stars on the front that was sealed with a personalized ‘T’ wax seal.

Payne released his single “Bedroom Floor” in October of that year, with the track following his debut solo single “Strip That Down” after the band’s indefinite hiatus in 2016.

The note was gifted by Payne to a “close associate” shortly after he received it, per the description on the auctioneer’s website.

This auction comes shortly after the first anniversary of the British singer’s death. 

He died on Oct. 16, 2024 after falling from his hotel balcony in Buenos Aires, Argentina. Payne suffered multiple traumas that led to internal and external bleeding, the National Criminal and Correctional Prosecutor’s Office told Page Six of its preliminary autopsy report.

The model joked via TikTok on Friday that the first track off of the “Life of a Showgirl” album is “taking over [her] life.”

She asked, “TAYLOR GIRL what did you put in this song?”

Hadid, 29, quipped that the hit is “possibly changing [her] brain chemistry.”

In the video, she danced to Swift’s choreography in a sheer green top, blue shorts and sunglasses while on the beach with a pal.

One Swiftie hilariously pointed out in the comments, “girl your sister [Gigi Hadid] is her best friend ask her and tell us.”
