Donald Glover revealed he was forced to cancel his Childish Gambino New World Tour dates after suffering a stroke last year.
The “Redbone” crooner — also known as Childish Gambino — recalled performing at his Louisiana tour stop with “really bad pain in [his] head” during Camp Flog Gnaw on Saturday.
“I did the show anyway,” he said, per fan videos shared via X. “I couldn’t really see well, so when we went to Houston I went to the hospital and the doctor was like, ‘You had a stroke.’”

“And the first thing I thought was like, ‘Oh, here I am still copying Jamie Foxx,’” Glover, 42, quipped, referring to Fox’s brain bleed — which led to a stroke — in April 2023.
“That’s really like the second thing,” he added. “The first thing was like, ‘I’m letting everybody down.’”
The hitmaker explained that medical professionals “found a hole [in] his heart” and he had to undergo multiple surgeries.

“They say everybody has two lives and the second life starts when you realize you have one,” Glover continued.
“You got one life, guys. And I gotta be honest, the life I’ve lived with you guys has been such a blessing.”
The “This Is America” rapper urged fans to live their life how they want to, adding, “If we have to do this again, it can only get better.”

Last October, Glover announced he was canceling the remainder of his tour in North America and Europe.
At the time, he revealed his hospitalization, but didn’t disclose his medical condition.
“I want nothing more than to bring this show to the fans and perform. Until then, thanks for love, privacy, and support,” the “Feels Like Summer” singer said in a statement.

Glover’s tour, which initially kicked off in August 2024, was intended to serve as a goodbye to his Childish Gambino stagename.
During an interview with the New York Times, he shared that he no longer found his stage name “fulfilling.”
“I’m not 25 anymore, standing in front of a boulder like, ‘This has to move,” Glover said. “You give what you can, but there’s beauty everywhere in every moment. You don’t have to build it. You don’t have to search for it.”
