A Powerball player missed out on a record-breaking prize by just one number, as the total jackpot rises to $1.3 billion after no one hit all six numbers Monday night.
The unidentified player still secured a $2 million prize after spending an extra dollar for the Power Play option to double their winnings in the drawing.
The ticket was sold to an online player in Clayton, North Carolina, the NC Education Lottery wrote in a statement.
Monday’s winning numbers to secure what was then a $1.2 billion jackpot were 9, 23, 25, 40, 53, with red Powerball 5.
As of Tuesday morning, no one had claimed the $2 million prize.

Attention now turns to the next draw on Wednesday at 10:59 p.m. ET, which will be streamed online.
A player must match all five white balls and the red Powerball to secure the jackpot — the odds of which are greater than 290 million to one.
Powerball is played in every state except for Alabama, Alaska, Hawaii, Nevada, and Utah, and is also played in Washington, DC, Puerto Rico and the US Virgin Islands.
Tickets can be bought on the day of the draw, but sales times vary by location.
